Love the beast Trailer

Love The Beast

What if you were a Hollywood movie star with an obsession for cars and racing? You would probably read every script with even the tiniest link to the subject matter, in the hope that you could tell a great car story of the likes of “Grand Prix”, “Le Mans” or “Mad Max”. Then one day you happened to open your garage door and sitting there, right in front of you, was the film you had been searching for.

This is how “Love the Beast” was born. Whyte House Productions teamed up with Pick Up Truck Pictures and began production on Eric Bana’s directorial debut feature documentary back in early 2007 and now is excited that the rest of the world will get to see the film when it releases on March 12th 2009.

The Real Thing

The Pain Killers

One in every ten people alive today will die in severe pain because the cheap medicine they need is derived from opium, one of the most controversial and controlled substances on Earth.

The battle between cops enforcing increasing levels of regulation and docs fighting for improved access to opioid medicines has been raging for decades. But now, with exploding numbers of patients experiencing severe pain due to cancer and HIV/AIDS, the balance between regulation and access must be urgently addressed. As members of a civil society we must decide where the balance lies.

THE PAIN KILLERS is a one-hour, prime-time documentary exploring the complex barriers that patients and doctors must struggle to overcome to access essential pain medicines.

Moonshine Movies is delighted to announce that we have received sponsorship from the Mayday Fund and the International Association for the Study of Pain which will enable us to conduct extensive shooting in India during early 2010.

We also thank Lance Armstrong Foundation for their support enabling us to shoot at the Livestrong Global Cancer Summit in Dublin in August, as well as Screen Australia and Film Victoria for their ongoing support in the developing the project and enabling us to conduct strategic shooting in Washington DC and New York in May.

The Man Who Souled the Wold Trailer

THE MAN WHO SOULED THE WORLD

Whyte House produced the feature documentary The Man Who Souled The World, which achieved an 11 city US Theatrical Release in October 2007 and won an Accolade Award and X-Dance Award.

It’s the story of Steve Rocco, the irreverent genius who transformed the skateboard industry from corporate to skater owned with a do-it-yourself punk attitude. Rocco's antics and entrepreneurial impact on the skateboard business are huge and have ultimately had a significant impact on broader mainstream culture as Steve is the man who gave Spike Jonze his first directing gig, discovered Jason Lee and created Big Brother magazine which became the genesis of Jackass.

The film achieved official selection dozens of International Film Festivals including Melbourne, Edmonton, Cinema City, SoCal, X-Dance Film and Swerve in Los Angeles.  Shot on locations around the world, the production features plenty of familiar faces including Jason Lee (My Name Is Earl), Johnny Knoxville (Jackass) and Larry Flynt (Hustler Magazine).

The Whyte House team managed every stage of the production process and it’s a testament to everyone involved that the film has found, and continues to find, an international audience.

Orlando Combo Video

Orlando Combo - "The genuine jazz experience"

Do you want “the genuine jazz experience from Melbourne’s best working band” then look no further than Orlando Combo.

Time to stop the sales pitch now and move onto Orlando Combo’s new promotional video which Moonshine produced in January 2009.

The band manager from Orlando Combo came to us and asked us to produce a video that would let their potential clients see and hear the quality of what the group has to offer.

Previously the band has had video recordings on their website and distributed to potential clients that have not accurately illustrated the “genuine jazz experience” that Orlando Combo are capable of.

Moonshine is happy to say that the new Orlando Combo video is a real throw back to the good old days of the smoky, dimly lit jazz clubs.

The band loved the video so much that Moonshine was also asked to re design the bands current website www.orlandocombo.com.au. The new site will be live late February 2009.

Ours

Moonshine Movies has produced a short film titled OURS for entry in various 2009 film festival such as St Kilda Film Festival, Melbourne International Film Festival, New York City Short Film Festival and Dungog Film Festival to name just a few.

Imagine if extra-terrestrial life rocked up to the moon, our moon god dammit, with absolutely no regard for us humans whatsoever. What would we do? How would the world respond? OURS is a science fiction comedy about power, possession, our place in the universe and chip-eating aliens. The short is a sci-fi comedy about the Leader of the Free World who must respond to the threat of extra-terrestrials landing on the moon or run the risk of becoming a lame duck President.

When a pair of aliens rock up to the moon on the flaming remnants of Halley’s comet, the humans of earth are compelled to ask themselves some tough questions. What is our place in the universe? Are we fundamentally peaceful or confrontational? Does the moon actually belong to us? And when it comes to crass, flatulent, oversized sentient beings, how are we to respond?

Exploring themes of power, possession and predestination, OURS is a laugh out loud romp that will keep you on the edge of your seat through to its explosion conclusion.

Stay tuned for festival inclusion details.

Malvern Star Video 2009

Malvern Star - 2009 Video

In April 2008 the Moonshine production crew along with the guys from Malvern Star and Phil Anderson, former Tour de France rider and yellow jersey winner embarked on a 2 day shoot along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria. One would think spending 2 days along the great ocean road would be fantastic, however when you have a camera and cameraman harnessed to the back of a vehicle and a camera attached to a bicycle it is another story.

After 2 long days shooting Phil Anderson weaving his way from Aireys Inlet to Apollo Bay on Malvern Star’s new Oppy series “Le Mauco” bike Moonshine had some amazing footage in the can and delivered the 2008 Malvern Star “Legend” Video in late May. The online version of the video can be seen in the player beside this article.

Now jump forward to February 2009 and Moonshine are actively in pre production for the Malvern Star 2009 video. This video will be less about the emotions you feel when riding and more about the technology and design behind Malvern Star’s 2009 Bicycle. The video will be shot in numerous locations around Melbourne as well as in the Malvern Star Bike factory in China.

I would love to go into greater detail about the video, but I don’t want to give too much away.

We will keep you updated as the production continues and look out for the new video in May.
